Patient Choice Care System Program
The Patient Choice Care System program features groups of health care providers and facilities that have aligned themselves into customized networks called “Care Systems." These Care Systems are tiered into three cost groups based on their risk-adjusted total cost of care combined with their performance on a variety of quality and efficiency measures.
Employers offer a choice of Care Systems. Consumers have access to comparative information and the option to contribute less toward the cost of their premium when selecting Care Systems in lower tiers (e.g., Cost Group 1 or Cost Group 2).
Once enrolled, participants obtain care from providers affiliated with their selected Care System to be eligible for in-network benefits.
Patient Choice Insights
Patient Choice Insights is a new program dedicated to helping employers and their employees manage their health care costs by equipping individuals with the information and tools they need to take control and become better health care consumers.
Patient Choice Insights uses an approach whereby health care providers and facilities are tiered according to cost, quality and efficiency factors. Consumers who obtain services from network providers that are in lower (or better) tiers, are rewarded through greater value and generally lower copayments and/or percentage of coinsurance.
Participants can access any provider in the network—in any tier, without a referral. Individuals have access to comparative data and can “comparison-shop” for care based on their needs at the time of service.
